Robot Ron
Gameplay
Robot Ron is a classic dual stick blaster like Smash TV or Atari's Robotron. It was made with the Playstation Dual Shock joypad in mind (although can also be played with the original PS pad). The aim of the game is to finish with the highest score, destroying numerous enemy types and talking bosses along the way.
History
This game was written as a little christmas present for all the
yarozers still active. By recycling old modules and code I
managed to cobble it together in three days. I spent a further
three days in august 2001 improving the game to produce Robot Ron
OPM, which appeared on the March 2002 (issue #82) and July 2002
(issue #86) coverdisks of UK Official Playstation Magazine.
Robot Ron OPM is now part of the
Game On exhibition
which started at London's
Barbican Centre and has travelled accross the world including
the National Museum of Scotland, Helsinki City Art Museum,
Eretz Israel Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago
and more.

Gameplay Hints
the spawning lasers can't hurt you,
but it's best to try and stay away from them because thats
where the enemies come from
keeping your shots trained on the
spawners is a great idea if you have enough spare bullets
hiding in the corner can get you
through some levels, but not others
hanging about with one enemy left to
try and get more powerups won't work, but it will let you have a
bit or a rest before the next stage
Leave all the baddies and go right
up to the edge of the screen and shoot off it, this will give you
optimum fire rate and so score max points while you get a point for each
bullet shot. Of course on later levels it's pretty impossible to avoid
all the enemies, and the extra score you get probably isn't worth it.
On the first level dont collect the powerups
as they appear and kill yourself once the spawning period is over. Once
you are down to your last life there should be three, or maybe four,
powerups floating around on the first level, so grab them and continue
through the game. You have to be confident you won't loose a life but you
need to do it all at full multiplier anyway for the big scores (your
multiplier goes to zero after dying) and it does give you a sizable
firepower advantage.Download
